London North Eastern Railway
Nationwide Rail have delivered a series of platform extensions along the London North East Route
Stations have included Bradford Interchange, Normanton and Castleford in West Yorkshire, with Bardon Mill and Riding Mill being undertaken in the North East. The works have involved the construction of 103m of extensions, using both traditional and modular forms of construction – that’s a total of over 600m over the last two years alone.
Although the construction works were straightforward in terms of methodology and construction techniques, the logistics of accessing the platform with hundreds of tonnes of materials was challenging. Nationwide Rail used Road Rail Vehicles (RRV’s) to transport these materials during possessions.
